A public space in downtown Akron, inspired by the DT Akron Vision + Redevelopment Plan. The space includes a mural designed by Akron artist April Nicholson-Couch, outdoor furniture by Krunchworks Design and pollinator-friendly plants recommended by Keep Akron Beautiful and Summit Metro Parks.

Downtown Akron Juneteenth Celebration Returns June 1, 2025Downtown Akron Partnership (DAP) announces that the 2025 Downtown Akron Juneteenth Celebration will be held this year on June 1, from 12 – 6 pm, at the newly renovated Lock 3. Ebony Hill, co-chair of the Juneteenth planning committee, says “Our theme, ‘Revisiting Our History: Reclaiming Our Community,’ is both a remembrance and a charge. Juneteenth calls us to honor the struggles of our past, embrace our collective responsibility and actively shape a future rooted in unity, healing and Black excellence. By reclaiming our community, we restore pride, deepen connection and affirm our power to build what comes next.”

Akron Zoo to Host First-Ever Renaissance FaireThe Akron Zoo is hosting its first Renaissance Faire on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The family friendly event is included with general admission and free for Akron Zoo members. The event will feature a large vendor area, live performances including live Dungeons and Dragons, live blacksmithing and sword fighting demonstrations. Akron Glass Works will offer glass blowing demonstrations, plus the Green Dragon Inn will provide a board game area and LANfest will offer a video game area.

Akron/Summit Convention & Visitors Bureau hosts 22nd Annual Zenith Awards LuncheonThe Akron/Summit Convention & Visitors Bureau (ASCVB) held its 22nd annual Zenith Awards at the John S. Knight Center on May 7. With nearly 300 attendees, the Zenith Awards luncheon recognized hospitality industry partners throughout Summit County, ranging from attractions and restaurants to hotels and stores.
