Downtown Akron Artwalk

The next Artwalk is Saturday, May 3, 2014, 5-10 p.m.!

Participating artists and galleries feature one of a kind art and collectibles available for purchase as well as art openings, gallery shows, demonstrations and interactive art.

Experience local art, live music and fun for all ages at the award-winning Artwalk in Downtown Akron. The Artwalk is FREE! Venues include galleries located in the Northside District, North High Street, and East & West Market Street.

Other Events During the May Artwalk:

Chalk Walk  -  Citizens of greater Akron are invited to take part in this community event on Saturday, May 3 from 5-7 p.m. on Main Street between Exchange and Cedar St. During the Chalk Walk, local artists create murals with chalk on the sidewalks to enhance the beautification of the city. 

Jane’s Walk  - Downtown Akron Partnership and the Akron Metropolitan Area Transportation Study AMATS) invite the community to participate in Jane's Walk, an international walking initiative.

Towpath Walk: Hosted by Dan Rice. Meet at Lock 3, 200 S. Main St. at 11 a.m.

Downtown History Walk: Hosted by Leianne Neff Heppner. Meet at Akron-Summit County Public Library, 60 S. High St. at 4 p.m.

Arts & Culture Walk: Hosted by Suzie Graham. Meet at Summit Artspace, 140 E. Market St. at 6 p.m.

Artwalk Information
On the first Saturday of each month the Artwalk features nearly two dozen destinations for art, shopping, dining and entertainment with offerings that fit every budget. Hand-blown glass, pottery, ceramic, paintings, textiles, jewelry and eclectic house wares all dot the footprint of this spectacular monthly event. The participating spaces change every month, as do the exhibitions, food and entertainment. Each month is a unique experience and a wonderful opportunity to meet the artists that make Downtown a culturally and artistically vibrant community.

The city of Akron's free trolley service runs the entire route, making shopping convenient and parking painless. Trolley service begins at 5 p.m. and runs through 10 p.m. with destinations opening their doors between 5 and 6 p.m. Many Artwalk patrons make a night out of their visit to Downtown by enjoying a dinner at a Downtown restaurants as they peruse the galleries.
