The Akron Municipal Court Launches Video Series to Help Court Users Gain Better Access to Justice

Akron, Ohio, December 14, 2023 – The Akron Municipal Court has released four videos which were funded by the Supreme Court of Ohio’s Civil Justice Fund with the goal of helping court users have better access to justice.

The Civil Justice Fund was created to improve access to justice for low-income, underserved and disadvantaged Ohioans. The Civil Justice Program Fund grant helps the advancement of innovative programs and services that seek to provide direct civil legal assistance and increase access to assistance for Ohioans’ civil legal needs.

Journalist Sara Shookman of Storyglow Studio, who is an Akron native, serves as talent in the videos. The videos were produced by Legion Media Group headquartered in Akron.

The four topics covered in the video series are: How to Successfully Navigate Online Dispute Resolution, How to Utilize Zoom for your Court Hearing, Services Available to Self-Represented Litigants Involved in Eviction Hearings and Next Steps to Follow if You Have Been Evicted.

Akron Municipal Court Administrative/Presiding Judge David Hamilton, Akron Municipal Court Judge Jon Oldham and Akron Municipal Court Judge Ron Cable filmed introductions for the videos.
