Date: Friday September 10th, 2010
Time: 7 a.m.-3 p.m.
Location: Summit County
On September 10th, Summit County Executive Russell M. Pry will sponsor the creation of the 9th annual 9/11 Remembrance Art Project, FREE Standing. Participating citizens will be asked to sign a 6', wooden peace pole with red or blue markers as a way to permanently document their hope for peace. The pole, meant to represent a traditional flag pole, will feature a metal cap and stand upon a matching metal lined base. Four directional beams of light, symbolizing the world famous Tribute in Light installation at Ground Zero in New York City where the twin towers once stood, will be angled towards the pole to illuminate signatures. The lights will also showcase the engraved terms, "9/11 Remembrance Art Project" and "FREE Standing."
Since 2002, the 9/11 Remembrance Art Project has provided citizens with an opportunity to honor the lives lost and the courage displayed by first responders on September 11, 2001. The yearly art project pays tribute to the victims of 9/11. public safety personnel and members of the armed forces.
