Downtown@Dusk bigger and better than ever in the Bud and Susie Rogers Garden of the Akron Art Museum

Improved sound and a better stage will be among the upgrades the Akron Art Museum will present during the 33rd season of Downtown@Dusk presented by KeyBank. The popular, free summer concert series will be held on Thursdays at 6:30 P.M., from June 22 through August 10, 2017 and will be hosted in the art museum’s Bud and Susie Rogers Garden.

Director of Advancement Bryan de Boer said, “The quality of Downtown@Dusk is going to the next level this summer, thanks in no small part to the generosity of presenting sponsor KeyBank. And, with additional support from the City of Akron, Audio-Technica, EarthQuaker Devices, Clear Gold Audio, Acme Fresh Market, Ron and Ann Allan and WKSU, we’ll be able to enhance so many aspects of the Downtown@Dusk experience.”

The concerts will be greatly improved by consistent, professionally produced sound from Clear Gold Audio. The museum plans to utilize a larger, covered stage to increase the presence of the performers and enhance the audience’s engagement with them. EarthQuaker Devices’ mobile guitar effects demo lab, and both sweet and savory food options from ACME Fresh Market Catering and Events will add to the festival-like atmosphere.

Akron Art Museum Senior Event Manager Colleen Iacianci said, “We’re really excited to have ACME be a part of Downtown@Dusk. We want to make it fun and convenient for people to stay downtown on Thursday evenings, so ACME will be here for each concert at 5:00 P.M. with food ready to go for people getting off work. It’ll be like a picnic before each show. They may even do some grilling outside.”

The June 22 concert kicks off the season with a performance by acclaimed singer-songwriter Anne E. DeChant. Upcoming concerts will feature reggae, rockabilly, indie rock and jazz, as well as performances from popular Akron folk rockers Shivering Timbers and local rock legends, 15 60 75 The Numbers Band.
