Write a Song with Hey Mavis at First Night Akron 2010

Spots Open in Songwriting Workshop at Lock 3 on New Year’s Eve

Become a songwriter at First Night Akron this New Year’s Eve. The band Hey Mavis will host an interactive and creative songwriting workshop for children ages 8 and up as well as their parents indoors at Lock 3 on Thursday, December 31, 2009. Workshops will take place from 5-5:45 p.m., 6-6:45 p.m. and 7-7:45 p.m.

Participants will craft their First Night Akron memories and experiences into a song that will premiere during the Akron Children’s Hospital Kids Countdown Show at 8:30 p.m. on the stage at Lock 3. Children will have the opportunity to join Hey Mavis on stage to perform the song.

After the premiere of the song created during the workshops, listen to the music of Hey Mavis, which has been described as “Modern Old-timey,” Americana and Modern Folk, in the Doric Room of Greystone Hall from 9:30-10:15 p.m. and 10:30-11:15 p.m.
