Trick-or-Treat on South High Street

This Thursday, October 29, 6:30-8:30 pm

The Akron Art Museum invites guests to enjoy its second annual Trick-or-Treat on South High Street with costume contests, creepy crafts, a mysterious treat-gathering scavenger hunt around the museum and a Halloween screening of animated short films on October 29 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.

During the night, children can pick up a scavenger hunt list and collect prizes as they search and solve the art related clues. Everyone is encouraged to come dressed up in a costume. Prizes will be awarded in three categories for this year's costume contest: "Do the Robot" inspired by Nam June Paik's High Tech Child; "Space Travelers" inspired by Peter Dean's Black Astronaut and "Down on the Farm" inspired by William Sommer's Bordner Mural. At the end of the night, children can gather in the lobby at 8:30 pm to participate in a costume parade and award presentation. Every child in a costume can enter in a drawing to win a family membership to the museum.

Older children and teens can enjoy animated films during The Revenge of the Freakishly Short Animation Film Festival, 70 minutes of Halloween-themed independent shorts from around the world. Screenings will be held October 29 at 7 pm (during Trick-or-Treat on South High Street) and October 31 at 2 pm. This program is free to the public with first-come, first-serve seating available in the auditorium.

Trick-or-Treat on South High Street is FREE for members. Non-member cost for the scavenger hunt is $5 per child. There will be a special BOGO gallery admission charge for accompanying adults. For more information call 330.376.9186 x229.

Family Drop-Ins are made possible by a gift from Dominion Foundation and the Glenn R. and Alice V. Boggess Memorial Foundation.
