Join the Ryan Humbert Band as they take over the historic Akron Civic Theatre for their third-annual holiday-themed spectacular to benefit the Akron Canton Regional Foodbank – a completely revamped show that is bigger, better, and more exciting than ever before!
Humbert and a 16-piece rock-and-soul band will be performing Humbert’s original music, a wide variety of seasonal classics, and covers of songs by Bruce Springsteen, John Lennon, Ike & Tina Turner, and more. A six-piece horn section and the JLTS gospel singers will accompany Ryan during this upbeat, fun and exciting performance. In addition, the Woodridge High School Choirs will join the band for a portion of the show. The Akron Civic Theatre “pit” will even be open for dancing this year!
The show will again take place on the stage at the Akron Civic Theatre, located at 182 South Main Street in downtown Akron. Non-perishable food, canned goods and financial contributions will be collected in the lobby of the Civic prior to the show.
“I’m thrilled to be back on the Akron Civic Theatre stage again, and to do so for a cause I feel very strongly about,“ Humbert said. “The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank needs support more than ever. They are such an important part of our community. I’m humbled by the work they do and glad to be providing meals to the area’s needy again this year.”
“Ryan’s event is easily one of the highlights of our holiday season here at the Civic,” said Howard Parr, Executive Director of the Akron Civic. “We get to provide great, local holiday entertainment, as well as help out a very worthwhile cause. Ryan has some really exciting things in store for this year to go above and beyond the previous shows. You won’t want to miss it.”
The concert is one of many events that are being held during the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank’s Hunger-Free Families campaign, which runs through the end of the year. Businesses and organizations are encouraged to host food drives to collect non-perishable food and financial contributions during this holiday season.
“So many people are seeking assistance to feed their families this year”, said Dan Flowers, president and CEO of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. “The food and funds raised at this special concert will go right back out to the people in need here in our community. We are incredibly grateful for the support of Ryan Humbert, his band, and everyone involved.”
“We’re dedicated to building community, “ said Verge owner Jill Bacon Madden Verge Building, LLC, located in LODO (lower downtown) Akron, adding “what better to bring people together to offer support, assistance and good cheer during the holidays than a great concert? Verge Building, LLC is proud to present Ryan Humbert’s Holiday Blowout for the 3rd year and delighted to support the Akron/Canton Regional Foodbank’s efforts.”
The show will also include a live performance of Humbert’s brand new, original holiday song “Together This Christmas” now available at iTunes, Amazon.com, CDBaby.com and other digital media outlets. The tune features members of Humbert’s band, as well as Nashville session pros John Jackson (Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams) and Ken Coomer (Wilco, Steve Earle, Will Hoge) and is a vintage sounding slice of nostalgic, tongue-in-cheek holiday fun.
