The Akron Art Museum’s 16th annual Akron Wine Auction, presented by Lexus, will be elegantly simple in design and textured in yellow and green floral arrangements. The after party will take on an outdoor Italian night club theme in black and white. The fundraiser will be held at the museum in the Beatrice Knapp McDowell Grand Lobby on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at 6:30 pm. All proceeds from the evening will directly benefit the museum’s programming and operations.
The wines from the Beau Vigne vineyard will include a Cabernet Sauvignon and their featured Chardonnay. The vineyard owners, Ed and Trish Snider, will be on hand to tell the story of their wines. You can learn more information about Beau Vigne and their wines at www.beauvigne.com. The silent auctions will feature over 100 fine wines, lifestyle and wine related items. The live auction, led by auctioneer Leah Hammer, will occur after dinner and in addition to exclusive wines, “Emblemata XXIV Water Can,” a woodcut print by M.C. Escher, exciting trips and unique lifestyle items and services will also be up for bid.
Delicious food for the event will be provided by “green” caterer Spice of Life Catering, artisans who are dedicated to the use of local and organic foods from Ohio farms. Dinner will feature a choice of grilled pork T-bone, roasted walleye or vegetarian mushroom turnover. Along with these entrée choices, Spice of Life will serve heirloom beet salad, a selection of tasty hors d’oeuvres and a duo dessert plate featuring strawberry short cake and flourless chocolate cake.
Entertainment will be provided by Debbie Polidori of Lucky Star Entertainment.
The annual event is the museum’s largest fundraiser. The evening starts at 6 pm with cocktails, socializing and silent auction bids, with dinner starting at around 7:45 pm. The after party will begin at 9:30 pm, following the conclusion of dinner and the live auction. The 16th Annual Akron Wine Auction has been made possible by the amazing commitment of co-chairs Chris and Randy Myeroff and Lisa and Jeff Bruno.
In addition to Lexus, sponsors include Dealer Tire, Sequioa Financial Group, Cohen & Co., Sherwin Williams Co., and Northeast Ohio Pulmonary and others.
