Storytelling festival returns for 6th year with new voices and an Appalachian twist

The oldest art form known to man is once again onstage Friday and Saturday, July 15 and 16, 2011 at the sixth annual Akron Storytelling Festival at Main Library, 60 S. High St. in downtown Akron.

Featured presenters are Jay O’Callahan, proclaimed a “genius among storytellers by Time Magazine and Suzi “Mama” Whaples, a featured new voice at the 2010 National Storytelling Festival.

O’Callahan extols the wonderment of life on the edge of Boston in neighborhood called Pill Hill in Stories of Growing Up, while Whaples shares poignant or flat-out hilarious Appalachian heritage stories with Humor from the Mountains.

For a schedule of events including adult and family concerts and workshops, visit http://ascplhistory.akronlibrary.org/akron-storytelling-festival, or call 330-643-9040.
