More than 700 guests are expected to enjoy food from more than 20 area restaurants and 70 global wineries at the 13th Annual Red & White on Thursday Night to benefit the Arthritis Foundation, Northeastern Ohio Chapter. The event will take place from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p. m., January 28, 2010, at the John S. Knight Center in Akron.
Presented by Akron General, Red & White on Thursday Night will raise essential funds to support local programs and services for people with arthritis. The event includes live and silent auctions, a raffle for a trip to Napa Valley, a Vegas roll-off dice game, “Bagging it for a Cure” bean bag toss, and “Key to a Cure” auction.
The goal of the event is to raise more than $100,000 to improve the lives of those with arthritis through research to help prevent, control and eventually cure the disease.
“Arthritis limits everyday activities such as walking and dressing,” said Gregory A. Vrabec, M.D., of Akron General and honorary chair of the benefit. “Through this amazing event we are able to raise critical funds to help support the nearly one million people of all ages in Northeastern Ohio who are suffering from the disease.”
Tickets are $85 in advance or $95 at the door. V.I.P. tickets, which include general admission and high-end wine tasting from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m., are $125. Corporate sponsorships are still available. For more information call 330.644.3390, ext. 11 or visit http://redandwhiteonthursdaynight.eventbrite.com/.
“This is a wonderful event with great food and fantastic wine,” said Debra Sherman, event co-chair. “It brings the community together in a fun and inviting environment to help an extremely worthy cause.”
