An open house celebration for Akron SCORE took place Sept. 22 at its new location on the second floor of the Ohio Building, 175 S. Main St. The event, hosted by Summit County Executive Russell Pry and Akron SCORE Chair Diana Bennett, brought together more than 100 residents, elected officials, entrepreneurs, small-business owners, chamber representatives and others to celebrate the recent move.

Akron SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of area small businesses. The organization recently entered into an office space lease agreement with the county to occupy 1,250 square feet of county-owned office space for a nominal fee.

“Having our very own suite provides us with the ability to extend our business counseling and workshop opportunities, as well as conduct our services in a more confidential setting,” said Bennett. “Area small business owners and entrepreneurs will benefit greatly from this partnership.”

Members of the local business community also will benefit from having the Akron SCORE office in close proximity to the county’s Department of Community and Economic Development and the County of Summit Office of Consumer Affairs, according to Pry.
