Ribbon Cutting at the Schumacher Cascade Mills Site

This Friday, June 10, at 11 a.m., Cascade Locks Park Association (CLPA) and its partners, The City of Akron and MetroParks, Serving Summit County, will celebrate the completion of the Schumacher Cascade Mills Site with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The project’s planning began in 2004, and has since gone through many phases to become a reality, including a capital campaign that kicked off in December 2008. The Association has around $64,000 left to pay towards the site. Donors still have an opportunity to be recognized on a plaque near the park’s entrance for donations of $500 and over. See www.cascadelocks.org for more information.

The general contractor for the project is Cavanaugh Building, well known for its projects around the Akron Area including Blossom Music Center's Top of the Hill Improvements, and First Energy's West Akron Site Development. Andrea Victor of CLPA, and Lisa King of MetroParks, Serving Summit County will manage the project.

The Mills Site project is sponsored in part by Ohio & Erie Canal Association, City of Akron, MetroParks, Serving Summit County, First Energy Foundation, Akron Community Foundation, Akron Children’s Hospital, Akron General Medical Center, Summa Health System, The Akron Garden Club, The Dominion Foundation, The Mary S. & David C. Corbin Foundation, Northern Ohio Golf Charities, The Sisler McFawn Foundation, along with individuals and several other foundations.
