
Library director David Jennings will lead June 22 ribbon-cutting event
‘Need to buy stamps, envelopes, a refreshing beverage or that last-minute greeting card? The new Library Shop Express will offer those and more at the Main Library in downtown Akron.
The Library Shop Express grand opening event will be led by library director David Jennings on Wednesday, June 22, at 5 pm. He will be joined by Library Shop volunteers in the official ribbon cutting.
Located on the second level, next to the Children’s Library entrance, the Library Shop Express will be open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5 to 8 pm. It will sell office supplies, first-class postage stamps, bookmarks, greeting cards, tote bags and lunch bags, among other items. Its evening hours expand the availability and services of the popular Library Shop on Main, located on the first level of the library.
The Library Shop on Main, established in 1996, and the new Library Shop Express are owned and operated by nonprofit Friends of the Main Library (FOML). For nearly 30 years, FOML has supported the goals of the Akron-Summit County Public Library with programming and resources.
