Inventors who think they have the next great idea may come closer to realizing their dream at InventaPalooza, which will be held Saturday, October 3, 2009 from 10a.m.-5p.m. at Main Library, 60 S. High St. in downtown Akron.
The goal of InventaPalooza is to provide information to inventors and entrepreneurs that will help them in patenting and marketing their inventions.
“InventaPalooza is designed to provide information on patenting a product and also to bring together community resources for people who are starting a business,” said librarian Monique Mason, who is coordinating the event. “This year’s Inventapalooza is geared to the independent inventor interested in taking a do-it-yourself approach to the entire process. Author & patent attorney David Pressman will explain what steps to take with a new invention and John Calvert, director of the US Patent & Trademark Offices Inventor Assistance Office will answer questions via a videoconference. The afternoon will feature a presentation of low- and no-cost marketing a promotion ideas as well as a panel discussion by local business start-up and patenting experts.”
InventaPalooza will also foster an interest in invention and innovation in conjunction with family programming in the Teen and Children areas, including a building competition among teams of high school students.
The Akron Summit County Public Library was designated a Patent and Trademark Depository Library by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Patent and Trademark Depository Library in 1995. “As part of our mission we are to disseminate patent and trademark information and support the intellectual property needs of the public,” Mason explained.
