Main Library Presents ‘InventaPalooza'

A Daylong Event of Education and Fun for Inventors, Entrepreneurs and Families

Inventors who think they have the next great idea may come closer to realizing their dream at Inventapalooza, which will be held Saturday, October 3, 2009 from 10a.m.-5p.m. at Main Library, 60 S. High St. in Downtown Akron. Inventapalooza Logo

The goal of InventaPalooza is to provide information to inventors and entrepreneurs that will help them in patenting and marketing their inventions.

Inventapalooza 2009 Schedule of Events

10:00 – Welcome and Opening Remarks – David Jennings, Director, Akron-Summit County Public Library.
10:15-11:30 –David Pressman attorney and author of Patent It Yourself and other titles published by Nolo Press.
11:00 - An Invention-Themed Story Hour in the Children’s Library with stories, activities and crafting of tin-can robots.
11:45-12:15 – John Calvert, Director of the Inventor Assistance Office at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, videoconference on “Inventors’ Dilemmas”
12:00 -4:00 – CitiBlocs building competition – teams of four (at least one team member must be under 18 and a high school student) will compete to engineer and build the best structure.
1:00-2:15 –  John Schlipp presents “From Dreams to Dollars: Do It Yourself Marketing and Intellectual Property Research.”
2:30-4:00 – Panel discussion with audience questions and answers featuring representatives from SCORE, the Federal Trade Commission, Jumpstart Inc., and the Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association.
