Downtown Akron Partnership (DAP) invites you to ring in the New Year with the magic and romance of the Midnight Wedding and Renewal Ceremony. Whether you're marrying for the first time or renewing your vows, First Night's first-ever mass Midnight Wedding and Renewal is sure to spread the love to all those "attending."
Officiated by The Honorable Judge Annalisa Williams, couples will exchange vows under the beautiful starlit skies just before the stroke of midnight and share their first kiss as a married couple as the FirstMerit Fireworks explode in celebration of the New Year.
Couples marrying for the first time are eligible to win a prize package valued at more than $2,000! One winning couple will be selected to receive white gold diamond companion wedding bands designed and custom made by C.L. Davis Jewelers, plus overnight accommodations and a deluxe breakfast from the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Downtown Akron. Only couples with an unendorsed Ohio marriage license are eligible to win this prize.
The first 50 couples to register (renewals and first timers) will receive a Sterling Silver Trollbead Bracelet with a Freja Knot Clasp and Double Heart Bead valued at over $140, also provided by C.L. Davis Jewelers, located in the Shoppes at Akron Centre.
To take part in the Midnight Wedding and Renewal Ceremony, couples must preregister with Downtown Akron Partnership no later than Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 5 p.m. Couples may register online at www.firstnightakron.org/wedding, print a registration form, or request one be mailed by calling 330-374-7676. All registered couples must purchase First Night admission buttons to participate. Couples must report to the Mainstage check-in site on Main Street in Downtown Akron between 6-6:55 p.m. on Saturday, December 31. Couples must check in to be eligible for the wedding band and Trollbead Bracelet give away. There are no exceptions.
Applicants meeting the wedding band eligibility requirements will receive a raffle ticket at check-in. At 7 p.m. The Honorable Judge Annalisa Williams, who is also officiating the midnight wedding, will draw the winning raffle ticket. The winning couple of this grand prize will be escorted to C.L. Davis Jewelers in a horse drawn sleigh, provided by Carriage Limousine, where the wedding bands will be sized to fit in time for the midnight ceremony.
The first 50 couples to register will receive their certificate for the Trollbead Bracelet upon check-in. The certificate must be redeemed at C.L. Davis Jewelers before 9 p.m. on Saturday, December 31. Each bracelet will be sized to fit.

First Night Akron 2012 admission buttons are $10 and children under 10 are admitted FREE when accompanied by a button-wearing adult. Buttons are on sale now at the following locations: Acme Fresh Markets, participating FirstMerit Bank branches, Actors' Summit Theater, the Akron Beacon Journal Customer Service Desk, Carolyn's Cupboard in Wadsworth, The Library Shop on Main, Lock 3, Sage Left Boutique at the Akron Civic Theatre, online at www.firstnightakron.org. On December 31, admission buttons will be available for purchase at Stage Left Boutique at the Akron Civic Theatre and The Library Shop on Main in Downtown Akron.
