A new president has been named for KeyBank's operations headquartered in downtown Akron.
On Monday, Jeffrey C. Douglas will succeed Thomas E. Tulodzieski, who was named president of KeyBank's Great Lakes Region in January. Douglas will work out of Key's newly relocated district headquarters in downtown Akron on Main Street.
''We are very excited that Jeff is joining our team. He has demonstrated his ability to develop and lead successful, client-focused teams and is very active in the community,'' Tulodzieski said. ''We see an opportunity in Eastern Ohio to leverage Key's extensive product capabilities and industry expertise within our community bank and our corporate bank to attract new clients and build market share. Jeff is the right person to lead our team and take advantage of the resources that differentiate Key in the market.''
Douglas was most recently executive vice president and senior commercial banker with Fifth Third Bank in Northeast Ohio, a position he held for two years. Before that, he was with National City Bank for 13 years, most recently as executive vice president of the National Special Industries Group. He began his banking career in 1987 with Northern Trust in Chicago.
In his new role, Douglas, 46, will manage all district activities. He will be responsible for growing Key's client base in commercial banking, business banking, retail banking, and private banking and investing. Douglas will also represent Key in the Akron, Canton and Mahoning Valley regions.
Key has 43 branches in its Eastern Ohio district and employs 300.
Douglas lives in Solon with his wife and three sons.
''I'm excited about this opportunity because of Key's community banking model and position in the market,'' Douglas said. ''There are many positive things happening at Key and in the Akron/Canton area, and I'm looking forward to having a hand in helping the company and the community grow.''
Douglas received a bachelor's degree in finance from Indiana University and a master's degree from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
He serves on campaign committees for the Cleveland Food Bank and the United Way of Greater Cleveland. He has also served on the Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital parent/faculty advisory council.
Douglas will work out of the new KeyBank branch and regional offices that were completed earlier this year. The Cleveland-based bank moved its branch and regional offices and consolidated regional employees who were working in other locations from a former location a few blocks away.
The new 21,000-square-foot, three-story glass and metal building was the first office building constructed in downtown Akron in 11 years.
