Free ‘Discovering Your Ancestors Online’ program features nationally-known expert genealogist

The Special Collections Division of the Akron-Summit County Public Library and the Summit County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will present the free program “Discovering Your Ancestors Online” Saturday, August 6, 2011 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm in the Main Library Auditorium, 60 South High St., Akron, 44326.

The program will feature presentations by experts on a variety of online resources available through the Library.  Laura Prescott, a nationally known researcher, writer, and speaker who serves as president of the Association of Professional Genealogists and as a consultant for Footnote.com, will speak about “Genealogy Research Online: Sites and Strategies That May Surprise You” and how to “Find Your Family on Footnote.com.”  Judith Porter, Director of the Family History Center in Tallmadge, will present “Family Search - The Largest Source of Free Genealogy.”  Edward Loera, a Customer Education Training Specialist with ProQuest, will demonstrate how to use the Ancestry Library Edition and HeritageQuest Online databases.
