‘Fill The Bus’ Food Drive at University of Akron Health and Fitness Expo

Runners Feeding Others will be hosting a ‘Fill The Bus’ non-perishable food drive in front of the John S. Knight Center as a part of the Road Runner Akron Marathon University of Akron Health and Fitness Expo on Friday, September 24 from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. All donations support the meal programs and food pantry of Akron’s First Grace United Church of Christ.

The food drive is being sponsored by Runners Feeding Others, an Akron Marathon charity partner, with all food and monetary donations going to support the meal programs and food pantry of First Grace United Church of Christ (350 South Portage Path in Akron).

The programs of First Grace fed over 3,600 meals last month to people in the Akron area and the need for these programs continues to grow. To assist in raising funds for these programs, in addition to the food drive on September 24, Runners Feeding Others also has over 100 people registered to run or walk in the events of the Akron Marathon on the following day with the participants raising donations from sponsors to help the fight against hunger in the Akron area.

About Runners Feeding Others:
Runners Feeding Others (RFO) is a 501c3 not-for-profit fundraising initiative of the First Grace Foundation with 100% of all donations going to help feed the hungry in the Akron area. For 2010, Runners Feeding Others is an official charity partner of both the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon as well as the Road Runner Akron Marathon. The donations are raised for the First Grace Meal Programs primarily through runners and walkers joining the RFO team for different area races and collecting money and food as a sponsorship of their participation in the event.
