East Mill Street Bridge Replacement Project begins Monday, August 10

AUGUST, 2009 - December, 2010

The East Mill Street Bridge crossing the railroad tracks near Quaker Square is being replaced. The original bridge was constructed in 1904 and improvements were initiated during the 1950s. Due to age and the general condition of the structure, an entirely new bridge is needed. The existing bridge will be completely removed, including the approach from the west side and the arch dividing the parking lots at Quaker Square. The new structure will be built on the same site with architectural enhancements that will compliment the new bridge into the surrounding area.

During demolition and construction East Mill Street will be completely closed within the section indicated on the map. A detour route is provided and signs will be posted to guide you through the detour.

Traffic will be detoured around the closure via Union, Market and Broadway or High Street, depending on which way you are traveling.
