Registration fees for the eighth running of the Road Runner Akron Marathon are at their lowest until Jan. 31.
The marathon, half marathon and five-person team relay will begin at 7 a.m. Sept. 25. The course will be the same as last year, with runners starting at 177 S. Broadway. Runners will finish at Canal Park Stadium.
This year's relay will be capped at 6,000 runners — 1,000 more than last year. Marathon officials are encouraging relay teams to sign up early.
The annual marathon — all events — attracted more than 10,000 runners last year.
Fees are:
Marathon — $70 until Jan. 31, $85 until Sept. 20 and $105 at the Health & Fitness Expo, set for Sept. 24 at the John S. Knight Center in downtown Akron.
Half marathon — $55 until Jan. 31, $65 until Sept. 20 and $85 at the Expo.
Five-person relay team (per person) — $27 until Jan. 31, $36 until Sept. 20, $45 at the Expo.
A free Kids Fun Run — open to children 14 or younger — will begin at the Spaghetti Warehouse restaurant, 510 S. Main St., and finish at Lock 3 Park.
