Bring your pickle entries to the Market at Lock 3 on Friday, September 9 by 12 p.m. You may also drop off your entries at the Downtown Akron Partnership offices in Greystone Hall, 103 S. High St., by 10 a.m. on September 9.
Judging will begin at 12:30 p.m.
Our celebrity judges will determine winners in three categories and prizes will be awarded:
Sweet Pickles
Dill Pickles
Anything pickled that doesn't fit into the first two categories, including other pickled vegetables
Those attending the Market on September 9 will also have an opportunity to judge to determine the Fan Favorite.
Stop by the market Friday, August 26 to pick up your free pickle-size cucumbers for the contest. If you're pickling a vegetable other than cucumbers, you will need to supply your own.
That gives you two weeks to prepare your masterpieces. You can make refrigerator pickles in plastic containers or jars or use the more traditional canning process. Whether you use an old family recipe or Google a recipe for your creations, it should be lots of fun.
