The City of Akron’s Holocaust Arts and Writing Contest will be held on April 17, 2012 at the Main Library of the Akron Summit County Public Library, in downtown Akron. The deadline for Holocaust entries is Friday, January 27. The theme is “Children of the Holocaust.” Students may enter the contest by going to the City’s Holocaust website: www.akronohio.gov/holocaust2
For those interested in entering, there are three categories (visual art, multimedia and writing) with two divisions; one is for middle school, and the other is for high school. First place winners and their teachers receive an all expense paid trip to Washington D.C. and the United States Holocaust Museum.
The winners and honorable mentions will be revealed at the City of Akron’s annual awards program, 11:30 AM, April 17, at the Main Library of the Akron Summit County Public Library, in downtown Akron. It will be followed by the City’s Holocaust Commemoration Program at noon.
Winning art and honorable mention art will be displayed at the Main Library April 5th through May 4th.
