The Mustill Residence will be open to the public for one day only on Saturday, February 27 from 10 AM to noon. Visitors will be asked for a $2 minimum donation; children under 12 will be admitted for free. “Ms. Emma Mustill”, portrayed by CLPA volunteer Rosemary Reymann, will greet her guests in the original Mustill home. Complimentary drinks and snacks will be available, and there is free parking at the Cascade Valley Trailhead on North Street in Akron. The Mustill Store will also be open to the public that day from 10 AM until noon. Entrance to the Mustill Store continues to be free to all.
More information about this event and the Cascade Locks Park can be found at www.cascadelocks.org, or contact the CLPA offices Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5 PM, at 330-374-5625.
The 1850’s era Mustill Store and House were renovated by the CLPA in the 1990’s. In July, 2000, the Mustill Store was opened to the public as a museum and towpath visitor center. Although thousands of people visit the Mustill Store each year, the Mustill House remains a mystery to many because it is usually rented to a private party.
The Mustill Store, Mustill House and remnants of Lock 15 are clustered together in the Cascade Locks Park; the combination is what makes the Cascade Locks Park one of the most significant historical attractions on the Ohio & Erie Towpath Trail.
The Mustill Store is open to the public from 10 AM to 5 PM on weekends, April through October. Local musicians perform on the porch of the historic store the first and third Fridays of each month May through September.
