Bartges Street bridge now open from South Main Street to Dart Avenue

The Bartges Street bridge from South Main Street to Dart Avenue is now open.  This section of Bartges had been closed to through traffic for about 17 months as contractors demolished the previous bridge that crossed the Ohio Canal and replaced it with a new structure. 

Improvements were also made to the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail.  A new trail  bridge crossing the canal, a realignment to the trail and major landscaping were also included in this project.  Further efforts to improve the trail are already underway south of the Bartges Street bridge as part of the Park East Towpath Trail Project.
