Akron Zoo offers kids a chance at a one-day zoo career during spring break

The Akron Zoo is offering local students in grades 7 – 12 a chance to be a zoo professional for a day. Zoorific Career Days will be offered eight different days and runs from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Participants will be able to spend time with keepers, animal trainers and education staff to learn about what it is like to work at a zoo.

Zoorific Career Days will be offered March 24 and 31, April 19, 21, 26 and 28 and May 5 and 12. The dates fall on most local school districts’ spring breaks. Students will have an opportunity to watch animals being shifted onto their exhibits for the day, get behind-the-scenes tours, watch animal training sessions, feed the penguins and more.

Registration is required and the cost of the program, which includes lunch at the Zoo, is $35 per student for Akron Zoo Members and $40 per student for non-Akron Zoo Members. People can register by calling (330) 375-2550 ext 7239 or emailing pvillers@akronzoo.org.
