
Each year since 2003 the Road Runner Akron Marathon has hosted an international, world-class marathon, half marathon and team relay race on the last Saturday in September. The organization has made it their mission to promote health and fitness and bring national attention to the greater Akron area. All of the information you need to know about the Akron Marathon is listed below:
Volunteers Still Needed on Friday, September 24 & Saturday, September 25
Volunteers are essential to the success of the Road Runner Akron Marathon. As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to your community, to meet new people and to share your skills and talents.
Groups and individuals are needed to volunteer on either Friday, September 24 at the Health & Fitness Expo and at the Finish Line at Canal Park, or on race day, Saturday, September 25, in various locations. Opportunities to volunteer on race day include: course support, finish line and Kids Fun Run. To register to volunteer, please visit www.akronmarathon.org.

Spectator Information
Did you know that the Road Runner Akron Marathon is one of the most spectator friendly courses around? Spectators can watch runners at 4-convenient downtown locations (start line, mile 3, mile 10 & the finish line) all within a few blocks. Additionally, the race course will be broadcast live inside Canal Park Stadium. Visit www.akronmarathon.org to learn more!
Directions & Parking
We are expecting 14,000 runners as well as thousands of volunteers and spectators making their way into downtown Akron on race morning. Please plan to be in the downtown area no later than 6:00 a.m. to avoid traffic delays. Please follow RACE DAY DIRECTIONS and PARKING RECOMMENDATIONS posted at www.akronmarathon.org which will offer minimal road closing interference with directional signage to suggested marathon parking. Additional signage will be placed downtown to direct foot traffic to the starting line.
