The Knight Stage

In the early seventies, when New Wave was popular, The Bizarros were an integral part of the Akron Scene, an anomaly that was heard from the U.S. to Liverpool and all the way to Japan. The Bizarros have been in existence since January 1976. On their own, the band members released three records on the independent Clone label and contributed a song on the Akron Compilation album released in Europe by Stiff Records.

The Bizarros attracted the attention of Mercury Records after Robert Christgau awarded their "From Akron" album an A- and 'pick-of-the-month' in his Village Voice review. The band recorded an album for Mercury Records entitled Bizarros in 1978. The Bizarros' music was years ahead of its time.
