The New York Times described Haitian-American Artist Daniel Bernard Roumain as "about as omnivorous as a contemprary artist gets." An innovative composter, violinist and band leader, DBR has collaborated with an impressive array of artists, orchestras and chamber ensembles, from projects for the Sphinx Commissioning Consortium, Imani Winds and the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra to pop princess Lady Gaga. DBR studied music as an undergraduate at Vanderbilt University's Blair School fo Music and completed his master's and doctoral work at the University of Michigan under Pulitzer Prize-winning composer William Bolcom. As a composter, his works range from orchestral scores and chamber pieces to music for film, theater, modern dance and electronica. DBR melds his classical music roots with his own cultural references and vibrant musical imagination.
